Kellyn Acosta and Matt Hedges Make USMNT Appearances In Friendly vs. Venezuela

Acosta and Hedges vs Venezuela

FRISCO - While FC Dallas turned in a record-breaking performance in a 6-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night, two Dallas players were over 1,200 miles away at the home of RSL with the United States Men's National Team.

Kellyn Acosta and Matt Hedges each made substitute appearances during the 1-1 draw between the U.S. and Venezuela in an international friendly. Hedges was the first of the two to enter the game in the 56th minute, and Acosta joined him on the pitch at Rio Tinto Stadium seven minutes later.

It was Acosta's sixth cap with the USMNT and the second for Hedges.

The match was used by the U.S. and head coach Bruce Arena as a tune-up before important CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers later this week against Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico.

Acosta has appeared for the U.S. in a qualifying match before, but should Hedges receive playing time in either match, it would mark his first appearance with the U.S. under the circumstances.
