Kellyn Acosta added to USMNT roster for Wednesday's friendly vs Ecuador

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, May 23) – FC Dallas’ Kellyn Acosta, Carlos Gruezo and Maynor Figueroa have been called in by their respective national teams for matches this week, the club announced today.

Acosta (U.S.) and Gruezo (Ecuador) will face off directly in an international friendly at Toyota Stadium this Wednesday, May 25. CLICK HERE to get your tickets for that match at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday.

While Acosta was not named to the 23-player roster that will compete in the 2016 Copa America Centenario, which begins on Friday, June 3, he did join the U.S. upon returning from FC Dallas’ match against New England this past weekend. Acosta picked up a pair of assists in Dallas’ 4-2 against the Revolution earning a spot on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.

Gruezo, named to Ecuador’s roster for the 2016 Copa America Centenario on May 18, also joined his national team upon returning from New England. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has logged over 1,000 minutes for FCD since joining the club this past offseason.


Figueroa is joining Honduras, who will face Argentina in an international friendly this Friday, May 27, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Figueroa has played in 13 of Dallas’ 14 matches this season. He currently leads the team in minutes played (1,170).
