Jesús Ferreira and Paul Arriola Called into National Team Duty

FRISCO, Texas (May 20, 2022) – FC Dallas players Paul Arriola and Jesús Ferreira have been called up by U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter for the upcoming FIFA international window running from May 30 through June 14.

With its World Cup ticket in hand, the USA will play four important matches this June as it prepares for the sport’s biggest stage. The USMNT kicks off the international window on June 1 against African powerhouse Morocco at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati (6:30 p.m. CT; ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN), before USA-Uruguay, presented by Allstate on June 5 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City. The match against the two-time FIFA World Cup champions and 13th-ranked Uruguay is set for 5 p.m. on FOX, Univision and TUDN.

The slate continues with the launch of the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League as the U.S. will attempt to defend its inaugural title, playing group stage matches against Grenada on June 10 (10 p.m. ET; ESPN+, UniMas, TUDN) at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas and at El Salvador on June 14 (FS1, Univision, TUDN).

Ferreira, 21, currently leads Major League Soccer in the Golden Boot Race with nine goals in 12 appearances for FC Dallas. He earns his seventh call-up overall since becoming a U.S. citizen on Dec. 16, 2019. He made his senior team debut in the 1-0 win against Costa Rica on Feb. 1, 2020. Ferreira also scored his first international brace and added three assists in the 7-0 shutout win against Trinidad and Tobago on January 31, 2021. He has a total of three goals and four assists in eight appearances for the Stars and Stripes.

Arriola, 27, has four goals and two assists in 11 matches for FC Dallas this season. He has 44 appearances for the Stars and Stripes. He made his senior team debut in the 3-1 win against Puerto Rico in an international friendly on May 22, 2016 where he also scored his first international goal. Arriola has scored nine goals and seven assists overall. Arriola and Ferreira have been involved in 16 of the 21 FC Dallas goals this season.
