Inaugural FC Dallas WPSL team to begin play Saturday

FC Dallas fans will have the opportunity to cheer on another #DTID team this year as the club will launch their inaugural WPSL FCD Women's team led by head coach Ben Waldrum. 


Kicking off their 13-game season on Saturday, FC Dallas features some of the best women's players to come out of the area including 2015 Women's World Cup veteran, Mexico national teamer and TCU graduate Monica Alvarado. The team boasts over 100 international appearances with Trinidad & Tobago national teamers Rhea Belgrave, Karyn Forbes and Victoria Swift plus former third-team All-American Marissa Diggs who played over a dozen matches in the NWSL with the Houston Dash. 


Former youth national teamers and all-conference stars Whitney Jaynes(Texas) and Taylor Schneider(Notre Dame) will assist head coach Ben Waldrum who is also joined by Matt Veasey on the staff. 


"We're very excited to launch this WPSL team as a part of the FC Dallas family," said Waldrum. "This team truly features some of the best players to come out of this region as well as players with dozens of international caps. We invite all FCD fans to come out and support the team this summer bringing high-level women's soccer to north Texas in the FC Dallas jersey."


The FC Dallas WPSL season begins Saturday, May 21st with a home game against Texas Titans at the McKinney High School stadium. Tickets are just $10 and the match kicks off at 7:00PM with doors opening at 6:00. They play a 13-match season with the next game on Saturday, June 4th vs FC Austin Elite.
