FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas enters its Decision Day matchup with Minnesota United with a lot on the line. Both teams are vying for a home playoff game and -- depending on results around the league -- Dallas could finish as high as 2nd place in the West or as low as 7th.
Here's how FCD can clinch the all-important home field advantage for at least the first round of the postseason:
FC Dallas is currently in 4th place in the Western Conference (the final spot that earns a home first-round playoff game) on 1.62 points per game (ppg). It faces 5th-place Minnesota United who sits on 1.55 ppg this Sunday away at Allianz Field. So, Dallas can clinch a home playoff game with either a win or a tie on Decision Day.
Also, if FC Dallas wins AND LAFC wins AND San Jose wins, FCD would finish in 2nd place in the West. However, if FCD loses AND LAFC wins AND Colorado wins, Dallas would finish in 7th place and would go on the road for at least the first round of its postseason campaign.
