FRISCO - Just over a week after scoring in the Dallas Cup Final, Paxton Pomykal is at it again - this time in Slovakia.
Pomykal, along with U-18 Academy players Shaft Brewer and Brandon Servania, are with the U.S. U-18 Men's National Team competing in the Slovakia Cup and the 17-year-old scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 over Belarus in the team's second group stage match. And it was quite the individual effort:
After cutting off a pass in the midfield, the Homegrown sprints forward, plays a give-and-go, splits two defenders with the return pass and then cuts left around a third defender before firing a shot across his body and into the net.
Pomykal started the USMNT's first game against Hungary on Monday, a 1-1 draw, before subbing on in Tuesday's match shortly before scoring. Brewer and Servania both started the match against Belarus.
The U-18s will play their final group stage match on Thursday morning against the host country before a championship or consolation game on Friday.
