Last September Bryan Leyva became the first player in FC Dallas history to earn a professional contract through the club’s youth development system. Thursday, Leyva will join the 18-man game day roster for the first time in his young MLS career.

Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, the 18-year-old prodigy came to the United States in 2000 and quickly became a star among the youth ranks. Last summer, he earned a spot on the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Central Conference Best XI and was a key player for the team the previous season, scoring 13 goals. Leyva frequently appears for his native Mexico’s junior national teams,  playing against Sweden and Korea Republic in last October’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.
