FRISCO - FC Dallas’ very own Matt Hedges and Kellyn Acosta started the second group game for the United States in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The United States picked up a 3-2 win over Martinique in the second game of Group B.

It was the first start for Hedges in the Gold Cup, and Acosta’s second. Acosta managed two shots on target in 62 minutes of work before making way for Alejandro Bedoya. Hedges went the full 90 minutes in the backline for Bruce Arena.

Acosta and Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan paired up as the pivots in the U.S. midfield, and held steady to keep the match scoreless in the first half. The United States found the breakthrough in the second half when Texan, Omar Gonzalez scored off a rebound for 1-0 in the 54th minute.

Jordan Morris would grab a brace to cancel out two goals from a Martinique team who was given no chance, but hung tough with the United States. The United States now sits atop Group B with four points. Panama also has four points, but the U.S. holds the goals scored tiebreaker.
