GA CUP: FC Dallas U-16 Academy Set to Kick Off Generation adidas Cup Friday

FRISCO - Tournament Week is almost upon us with the Generation adidas Cup and the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup running concurrently in DFW.

The FC Dallas U-16 Academy team will get the action started on Friday afternoon as they begin the 2017 GA Cup against Ecuadorian-club Independiente d. Valle at Toyota Soccer Center. Dallas was the only MLS club to advance to the Semifinal round last year in the annual tournament pitting MLS Academies against some of the world's best Academies. 

Along with Independiente, FCD is drawn into a Group A with Real Salt Lake and Real Madrid. To make a return to the Semifinal round, Dallas would need to finish at the top of the group - not an easy task in the strongest tournament grouping, the proverbial group of death. 

FC Dallas' Friday match will be streamed on the FC Dallas Facebook page, as well as on FCDallas.com, and Tuesday's match against Real Madrid will be streamed on FCDallas.com.

A new addition to GA Cup this year is the inclusion of a U-12 tournament, from Thursday, April 13 through Saturday, April 15. FC Dallas will field with a mixed group of U-12 Academy players and potential Academy prospects from within the FCDY umbrella. The full U-12 Academy team will compete in the U-12 age group for Dallas Cup.
