Qualifying for the 2017 Generation adidas Cup began this weekend in Kansas City and the 2016 semifinalists picked up right where they left off last year.
In the opening match of the weekend, the FC Dallas U-16s faced off against Columbus Crew SC, beating the Eastern Conference side 4-1 with Jesus Ferreira and Bryan Reynolds each scoring in the win.
On Saturday, FC Dallas faced off against their Texas Derby rival Houston Dynamo for the second time so far this season and they throttled their rivals 7-0. Jesus Ferreira scored a hat trick to bring his goal total to five this weekend while Bryan Reynolds scored two more. Edwin Cerrillo and Nathan Toledo scored the other two goals as FCD moved to a perfect six points.
They'll face Sporting KC, who has also won their first two matches, on Monday in an important qualifying match.
