FRISCO, Texas – With the signing of Franco Jara from Pachuca, FC Dallas completed one of the more high-profile signings in the club’s recent history. Although Jara will not arrive in Texas until the summer, we can still keep tabs him and get a better picture of what is to be expected once the forward officially joins his new club.
Pachuca claimed an important three points in Clausura play Friday, with Jara grabbing the all-important brace to inspire his team to a 2-0 victory. The match, contested against Atlas, saw Pachuca rise up to ninth position. The club now finds itself only three points off fourth-placed Cruz Azul and six points off league-leaders Club América.
Most of the action came in the second half of play. Jara’s first goal, a perfect representation of his clinical nature in front of goal, came in the 55th minute. It saw the forward meet a cross inside the six and power his effort over the goalkeeper with a strong knee. A few minutes later, the striker stepped forward for a penalty kick and drove his shot into the roof of the net, sealing the points for Pachuca.
Jara has begun to find some serious form in Liga MX play, with three goals in his last two appearances, including another in Copa MX play against Toluca.
Next up, Pachuca will take on Querétaro on Saturday. The match kicks off at 5 pm and can be seen on ESPN Deportes.
