FIVE THINGS: What to Know Ahead of Sunday's Match against New York City FC

Five Things to Know Fans DL

FRISCO - FC Dallas is back home as they host New York City FC on Sunday night at 7. Here are some things to keep in mind as you get ready for the match:

On-Field

The Unbeaten Run Goes On

FC Dallas is the lone remaining unbeaten team in MLS. With a 5-0-3 record, Dallas leads the Western Conference with 18 points. Dallas is the only team in the league averaging more than two points per match, and is also tied with Toronto FC for the league’s best goal differential with a difference of +8. Defensively, Dallas is tied for the fewest goals allowed with Sporting Kansas City with five goals against.

The Late Show

It may take until late in the game on Sunday to decide the outcome of the match. FC Dallas leads the league with 1.375 second half goals per game, with NYC FC not far behind in second place with 1.11 second half goals per game. The visitors haven’t conceded a goal in the final 15 minutes of a game this season, but FC Dallas has five goals in the final 15 minutes of MLS matches, including Maxi Urruti’s stoppage time goal last weekend.

Dueling Maxi’s

Sunday’s match will showcase two influential playmakers for each team, both whom happen to be named Maximiliano and who were born just over seven miles apart from each other in Argentina. Maxi Urruti is Dallas’ leading scorer with six goals, along with an assist, in seven matches. Conversely, Maximiliano Moralez has scored twice for NYCFC and has recorded four assists in his debut MLS season.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Defender and captain Matt Hedges is the only FC Dallas player to have played all 720 minutes of MLS action for the team in 2017. The 24-year-old was named to the MLS Team of the Week for the second time this season after scoring in last weekend’s 3-0 victory at Real Salt Lake. By starting last weekend, Hedges made his 151st start for FC Dallas.

Defending Fortress Frisco

FC Dallas is unbeaten in its last 11 matches at Toyota Stadium across all competitions. The Dallas defense has recorded a shutout five times during that span. Dating back to August 15, 2015, FC Dallas has lost only one match at home.
