FC Dallas WPSL Team Looking to Build on Successful First Season Under Head Coach Tyler Powell

WPSL 2019 Schedule

FRISCO - The 2019 WPSL schedule has been announced and head coach Tyler Powell likes the outlook heading into his second season in charge.

"We are returning several impact players from last year’s team and the schedule is much more conducive as it relates to travel."

The team is working to become back-to-back conference champions. The FCD women outscored their opponents 39-9 throughout 2018 along with a 4-1 win in an international friendly against Monterrey from Mexico. This year the team will have two away games that are in the DFW area along with away games in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

As Powell builds his 2019 roster, there are plenty of familiar players returning to the team, and the club is still looking to hold tryouts locally in the coming weeks. FCD's 2018 Defensive MVP Jada Holmes and Offensive MVP Madison Haley both return to the talented squad.

"We are incredibly happy to have Jada and Madison returning," Powell said. "They are great players and more importantly, they great people. Their attitude and work-rate helps elevate everyone's play around them."

Madison Haley played in only 3 games for the FCD Women in 2018 but recorded 7 goals and 2 assists.  At Stanford, she continued to collect awards as she was an All PAC-12 selection and an All PAC-12 Honorable Mention as she helped lead her team to back-to-back NCAA Final Four Appearances. Jada Holmes played at University of Kentucky until she sustained a knee injury. After surgery and rehab she returned to soccer in Tulsa where she started 8 of 14 games and assisted in a shutout. She earned first team all-district honors, all-region honors, and named defensive player of the year.

“Last year there were lots of new faces, coaches and teammates, that brought a lot of excitement to the season," Holmes said. "The team has definitely grown so much, and it was a huge accomplishment to win our region last year. I’m looking forward to this upcoming season and how we can build on last year to make it an even better one this summer.”

"Playing for the FC Dallas WPSL team was the highlight of my summer last year," Haley said. "FC Dallas provides us with world-class facilities and an excellent coaching staff to help us continue developing over the summer. The league itself is comprised of very strong, competitive teams, which helps replicate the demands of the upcoming college season. This environment allowed me to stay technically, tactically, and physically sharp during the summer and helped me return to Stanford well-equipped for the rigors of preseason training.”
