FC Dallas Women's Academy Continue to Advance in Playoffs With U-17s Moving On to Quarterfinals

FRISCO, Texas- Completing the group stage with 3 wins in 3 games, the FC Dallas U-17 Women’s team beat Penn Fusion Soccer Academy U-17 1-0. This win meant that FC Dallas topped their group and moved on to the quarterfinals.

FC Dallas has built their playoff run on the back of a strong defense and their third game was no different, keeping their opponent quiet for the entire first half. FC Dallas knew that all they needed was a draw to go through, so Penn Fusion was forced to open up in the second half in search for a goal. As the game opened up Samiah Phiri put FC Dallas in the driver’s seat with a 51^st minute goal, and FC Dallas never looked back, able to easily see out the game and book their place in the knockout rounds.

FC Dallas will be looking forward to playing IMG in the next round. With only 3 teams in the quarterfinals able to keep clean sheets in all three matches, the U-17’s will be hoping their defense can see them through all the way to the top.
