FC Dallas Training Report: 3/28

Training march 28

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas returned to the adidas Field at Pizza Hut Park today in preparation for tomorrow’s MLS Reserve League match in Utah against Real Salt Lake (1 p.m. CT).

Following warm-ups, FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman broke the squad up into two teams of 11 for an often-used drill in a 60-yard area. Chris Seitz and Josh Lambo took turns in the south goal while Kevin Hartman manned the north goal. In addition to the traditional goals, players had the option of scoring in mini goals located near each corner flag.

Teams
Green: Chris Seitz/Josh Lambo, Brek Shea, Bruno Guarda, Michael Ambrose (FC Dallas Academy), Andrew Wiedeman, Eric Alexander, Eric Avila, Maykel Galindo, Daniel Garcia (FC Dallas Academy), Fabian Castillo, Jackson.

Blue: Kevin Hartman, Victor Ulloa, Bobby Warshaw, Andrew Jacobson, Ugo Ihemelu, Jonathan Top, Bryan Levya, Emerson Hyndman (FC Dallas Academy), Boyd Okwuono (FC Dallas Academy), Ruben Luna, Peri Marosevic.

Highlights:

The 14 year-old Emerson Hyndman netted the first goal of the match for the blue team when he intercepted a back pass from a green defender and walked in alone on Seitz.

  • Four years Emerson’s senior, Fabian Castillo worked an opening going the other direction. Going right-to-left, the skilled Colombian turned a defender before knocking a shot back to the near post. Castillo’s attempt on goal was crafty, but not enough to beat Hartman, who recovered to make a kick-save with his left foot.
  • The blue team took a 2-0 lead five minutes in when Jonathan Top posted up his defender and sent a lateral ball to the right flank for Hyndman to finish.
  • Not long after, blue got another goal from FC Dallas Home Grown player Ruben Luna. The blue team worked the ball up through the midfield before getting the ball to Luna in space. Calm as always, Luna faked his shot, cut back hard to the inside and knocked an easy pass into the low corner of the goal.
  • FC Dallas welcomed the return of Maykel Galindo to training today. The trialist combined well with Castillo up front, earning a quality scoring chance right on the doorstep of Hartman’s goal. With both corners of the goal covered by Hartman and his defender, Galindo lifted a shot over the head of the goalkeeper for a green team goal.
  • Hartman won the next encounter after Eric Avila worked a give-and-go with Castillo down the middle of the field. After receiving the return pass from Castillo, Avila went around a second defender and slid a ball in to Galindo. Before he could react, Hartman was on the ball, taking a close-range shot off his chest to deny the opportunity.

  • Following the goal, Hyndman released the players traveling to Salt Lake City for tomorrow’s reserve match.
