FC Dallas Signs 2017 SuperDraft Pick Walker Hume

Dallas-born center back earns spot on the roster after strong showing in Argentina

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, February 21, 2017) – FC Dallas has signed 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick Walker Hume (2nd round, 37th overall) to a contract, the club announced today.


Hume, 23, played 195 minutes for FC Dallas on its recent trip to Argentina, scoring a game-winning goal against River Plate Reserves on Feb. 12.


Born in Dallas, Hume scored 20 goals and added 10 assists as a defender during his collegiate career, which began at NCAA Division II Sunshine State Conference, Rollins College. During his two seasons with the Tars, Hume had 12 goals and four assists.


The 6-5 defender transferred to the University of North Carolina for his junior and senior seasons, where he found the back of the net eight times and assisted on six more.


Hume attended Westlake HS in Austin, Texas. He won a Premier Development League Championship with the Austin Aztex in 2013. His grandfather, Tom Franckhauser, played for the Dallas Cowboys’ inaugural team in 1960.
