FRISCO, Texas (Friday, Sept. 11, 2015) – FC Dallas, Raytheon and the DFW USO will host Military Appreciation Night honoring military service members and veterans in the regional community on Saturday, Sept. 12, when FC Dallas hosts star-studded New York City FC at Toyota Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to wear red and stop by the Raytheon and USO RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) Wall across from the El Jimador Cantina on the northwest corner of the stadium. Fans who stop by the wall and donate $1 to the USO will receive a paper ribbon to recognize someone they know or simply write thanks to service members. The ribbons will be placed on the RED Wall. Fans are invited to take pictures or Tweet their salutes to #salutethetroops. All donations will go directly to the USO.
RED Shirt Fridays, a grassroots movement to remember everyone deployed, continues to gain momentum across the country and at Raytheon.
“We salute the nearly 200,000 veterans, service members and their families who annually pass through the DFW Airport when they are deployed, head home from duty or transition assignments,” said Trudy Sullivan, vice president of communications and public affairs at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. “The USO offers service members a warm welcome, necessary resources, emotional support and a place to rest during their travels.”
DFW USO Director Stephanie Melson added, “Events like this help remind the community we still have men and women deployed to 150 countries who are far away from home and long for the simple connections to family and friends.”
