FC Dallas Playoff Run Comes to an End After Suffering 1-0 Defeat to Seattle Sounders FC

Seattle, Wash (November 10, 2023) – FC Dallas 2023 season comes to an end after falling 1-0 to Seattle Sounders FC in the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 series on Friday night at Lumen Field.

BATTLED UNTIL THE END 
Despite falling short tonight, Dallas battled until the last minute of the match. Dallas came into the game with a plethora of injuries. Forward Jesús Ferreira and defender Marco Farfan were ruled out at the last minute due to injury. Other notable injuries that impacted Dallas this year are midfielder Alan Velasco and defender Geovanni Jesus. 

PROTECTING THE NET 
Goalkeeper Maarten Paes made three saves tonight and registered 10 saves over the three postseason matches this year. The Dutch shot stopper brings his postseason career total to 15 saves in five matches. 

JOINING THE PLAYOFF CLUB
Jesús Jiménez registered his first playoff appearance by coming on in the 69th minute of the match. The Leganés, Spain native, joins the six other players who also made their first playoff appearance this season. The six players are Nkosi Tafari, Asier Illarramendi, Dante Sealy, Sam Junqua, Eugene Ansah and Bernard Kamungo.

POSTSEASON RECORD
FC Dallas is now 15-26-10 all-time in the MLS Cup Playoffs. This was the 11th matchup (3-6-2) against the Sounders which is the most for Dallas against any single opponent.
