FRISCO, Texas (May 5, 2011) – FC Dallas has waived 22 year-old defender Kyle Davies, the club announced today.
After logging 795 minutes for FC Dallas during the 2009 season, Davies started the 2010 season-opener alongside George John at center back before fracturing his right arm in the 55th minute. The injury kept Davies out for a large part of the season. He eventually rehabbed and returned to lineup on Sept. 11, 2010 against the San Jose Earthquakes. Davies played 21 minutes in the 0-0 draw that extended FC Dallas’ MLS record road unbeaten streak to 11 games. Davies made his second start of the 2010 season and played the full 90 minutes three games later against Kansas City. FC Dallas won that match 3-1 to extend the longest road unbeaten streak in MLS history to 12 games.
Davies joined FC Dallas on April 28, 2009 from Real Salt Lake in exchange for a second round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He made his MLS debut with FC Dallas on June 13, 2009 in a 3-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo at Pizza Hut Park.
Davies captained the U.S. team in the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. Prior to that, Davies was a consistent member of the youth and reserve teams of Southampton FC.
