David Ferreira Injury Update
FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman spoke to media following today’s training session.
Schellas on David’s status…
“Today he was put into a walking boot, meaning he can start to put weight on it and try to build some strength. It’s the right step to take in the progression of getting him back on the field.”
Schellas on Kansas City…
“Kansas City is a much better team than their record shows. I think their mentality right now is that they are going to turn their season around once they get into that brand-new stadium and start playing some home games.”
Copa Oro
Zach Loyd, Bruno Guarda and Maykel Galindo spent their off day as fans on Sunday. The three FC Dallas players attended the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup games (Cuba v. Costa Rica and Mexico v. El Salvador) at Cowboys Stadium.
“It was my first time actually at Cowboys Stadium. That venue is so sick,” said Loyd. “It was my first international game, not just a friendly, but actually for something. The fans were unbelievable. The only thing that kind of stunk was they wouldn’t let [the fans] bring their [vuvuzelas] inside because of FIFA, but it was an awesome environment, something I definitely will remember. The seats were sick; [they were] right behind the goal. The first goal for Mexico, I got a bath in beer. I’ve never been soaked by so much beer. But it was a good experience. I’m really happy that I went.”
Galindo had a different view of the Cuba vs. Costa Rica game. A veteran of three Gold Cup tournaments for his native Cuba, Galindo joined Univision’s Pablo Ramirez and Jesus “El Profe” Bracamontes in the broadcast booth for the entire game.
“I enjoyed it, especially seeing the Cuban national team because I haven’t seen them play for six years,” said Galindo, who clearly enjoyed his time on air. “Doing an interview on Univision with those guys was amazing. Univision is the best channel for Spanish people in this country, so it was a really good experience for me.”
Mavs Mania
Andrew Jacobson and Ricardo Villar spent their day off at the American Airlines Center for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
“It was a really cool game,” said Jacobson. “Miami kept pulling up and the Mavs kept fighting back, and then giving up the lead again and coming back. They are two good teams. I think the Heat have a ton of talent and it was a pretty crushing loss for the Mavs, but if they can win the next two, I think they’ll give themselves a chance for sure. It was really fun, great crowd [and a] beautiful arena.”
Mexican National Team finishing drill
The Mexican National Team trained at Pizza Hut Park for the second time this morning. El Tri utilized Field 4 of the Pizza Hut Park complex, 20 feet away from FC Dallas’ morning training session on the adidas Field.

The first home-grown player in FC Dallas history, Bryan Leyva studied a high-energy Mexican shooting drill while stretching out between drills.
“This drill is very intense. The coach is right in the middle of the action constantly motivating the players. It’s nice. That makes it seem like every touch is the most important one. It helps you maintain focus. Even if a player scores a great goal, the action just continues. It’s the next touch that is important. They do miss more than I thought they would. I guess we’re all human.”
They said it – Kevin Hartman to Dallas Morning News
FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman became the first player in Major League Soccer history to reach 100 career shutouts on Saturday, June 4, against New England. The all-time MLS leader in wins (163), saves (1,323) and shutouts (100), Hartman has enjoyed a renaissance since joining FC Dallas. He took over the starting goalkeeper role on May 5, 2010, and has built a regular season record of 17-4-11 (2-1-1 record in MLS playoffs).
Hartman on earning his 100th career shutout…
“It’s pretty cool,” Hartman said. “The fact I’ve been able to play 15 years of professional soccer is something that I really don’t take for granted.”
After the game, the ball was sitting in his locker but he doesn’t know where he will keep it.
“In my garage with the rest of the balls,” Hartman joked. “I’ll probably get all the guys to sign it.”
