Richards and Roberts are the first Dallas players to visit Bayern since partnership was announced

FRISCO ā€“ FC Dallasā€™ league-leading 22nd Homegrown player, Chris Richards, and FC Dallas Academy midfielder Thomas Roberts will visit Bayern Munich for a 10-day training stint as part of the partnership announced with the Bundesliga club on Feb. 13, 2018.


ā€œThis is a phenomenal opportunity for Chris and Thomas,ā€ said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. ā€œBoth of these players have bright futures and this experience with FC Bayern will give them great exposure to the sport on a global scale.ā€

Richards, 18, joined the FC Dallas Academy last year and has started 14 USSDA matches for FC Dallasā€™ U-19s this season. The Alabama native also started all three matches for the U-19s in Dallas Cup. He scored the only goal in a 1-1 draw with QuerĆ©taro on March 28.


Richards was invited to the U.S. Soccer Menā€™s YNT Summit Camp as part of the U-19 team. The camp ran from Jan. 2 to Jan. 11 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.


Roberts, 17, joined the FC Dallas Academy during the 2015-16 season. The midfielder made 26 appearances for the U-14s that season, scoring five goals. The Arkansas-native spent the 2016-17 season with FC Dallasā€™ U-16s, making another 28 appearances in USSDA play. He scored another three goals last season before joining FC Dallasā€™ U-19 for the current season. Roberts has five goals in 15 appearances this season.

The FC Dallas U-19s currently have an 13-3-1 record in USSDA
