FC Dallas Homegrown Antonio Carrera Called into National Team Duty

FRISCO, Texas (April 20, 2022) – FC Dallas Homegrown and goalkeeper Antonio Carrera has been called up to the U.S. U-20 Men’s Youth National Team for its upcoming training camp in Carson, Calif. from April 22-May 1. FC Dallas Homegrown Dante Sealy, who’s currently on loan with PSV Eindhoven, has also been called up.

FC Dallas Academy players Michael Cortellessa and Bryce Outman were also called up to the U.S. U-15 Men’s Youth National Team for the 18th Torneo delle Nazioni set for April 25-May 1 at several venues across Austria, Italy and Slovenia.

Carrera, 18, signed as the 33rd FC Dallas Homegrown on Feb. 21, 2022 after joining the FC Dallas youth system in 2014. He was promoted to the FC Dallas Academy two years later and won the Copa Rayados Silver Bracket in 2017 and 2018, was a Dallas Cup runner up in 2017 and was named the Wanda Cup Best Goalkeeper the following year. Last season, Carrera was part of the North Texas SC side that reached the USL League One playoffs. He made his professional debut on March 26 with North Texas SC and has started in goal in four MLS Next Pro matches this season, allowing only three goals in four games, making 15 saves, and registering a 0.75 GAA and 83.3 saves percentage.

The U-20 MYNT team will train at Dignity Health Sports Park as it continues preparations for this summer’s Concacaf U-20 Championship, which will serve as qualification to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Cortellessa, 15, has started in 17 MLS NEXT matches this season. He participated in the BioSteel YNT Regional ID Camp last month.

Outman, 15, has scored one goal in 15 MLS NEXT appearances, including 12 starts. He also participated in the BioSteel YNT Regional ID Camp last month. Both Outman and Cortellessa participated in the 2022 Generations adidas Cup at Toyota Soccer Center.

Placed in Group B, the U-15 YNT will face Slovenia on Monday, April 25 (10 AM CT) and Belgium on Wednesday, April 27 (11 AM CT). Both matches will be streamed, with USA-Slovenia available via to-be-announced Slovenian FA platforms and USA-Belgium broadcast by the tournament organizers.
