FC Dallas begins its defense of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy

FRISCO â€“ As the defending Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions, FC Dallas will enter the annual tournament in the Fourth Round, hosting USL-side Tulsa Roughnecks FC at SMU’s Westcott Field on Wednesday, June 14.


The match against Tulsa is set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT.

FC Dallas defeated OKC Energy FC in a penalty kick shootout at Westcott Field in 2016. The victory ignited a run that culminated in the team’s second U.S. Open Cup title. FC Dallas defeated the Colorado Rapids, 2-1, in overtime before slipping past the Houston Dynamo, 1-0, in stoppage-time, to advance to the tournament semifinals. FC Dallas went down, 1-0, in overtime, but battled back to win, 2-1, against the LA Galaxy in the semifinal. Back at Toyota Stadium, FC Dallas rode the energy of a standing-room-only crowd of 16,612 to defeat the New England Revolution, 4-2.


FC Dallas has a 30-16-6 record all-time in the U.S. Open Cup and a 18-6-3 record all-time in the DFW Metroplex.
