This Midwest Region matchup is a rematch of the 2017 quarterfinal USOC meeting between the two clubs. Sporting KC beat FC Dallas 3-0 en route to winning the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title.
FC Dallas, the 2016 U.S. Open Cup champions, advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2018 competition with a 1-0 victory over San Antonio FC on Wednesday, June 6 at Toyota Field in San Antonio.
