FRISCO - As the FC Dallas technical staff looks to begin building the 2019 roster and beyond, the club has a new resource at its disposal in its scouting department.

In August 2017, FCD hired former Venezuelan international Jesus “Chuy” Vera as Director of Scouting and his work has proven vital in the club’s efforts to improve scouting processes. Dallas is now doubling down on its efforts, and has hired Daniel Pareja to head up scouting and market intelligence in the northern region of South America and Central America.

Daniel, the younger brother of FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja, has worked with various South American clubs in building scouting and intelligence platforms. He has also worked in identifying youth talents for Academies and worked together with players to promote and progress their careers.

In his new role, he’ll be an expert on the ground, providing Dallas with scouting information and intelligence about players and teams specifically in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Panama.

Pareja’s impact has already been felt on the pro team, assisting the FCD technical staff in the signing of Abel Aguilar just three weeks ago. Since his signing, the Colombian World Cup veteran has appeared in two matches.

“Chuy and Daniel are invaluable assets to our club as we continue to expand our scouting reach,” VP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi said. “In the past year, we have been able to streamline and organize activities that were a bit informal before. We look forward to continuing to grow our operations in this area.”
