FC Dallas draws Alianza in CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round

FRISCO, Texas (May 18, 2011) – FC Dallas will face defending Salvadoran champion Alianza FC in the preliminary round of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League, the club announced today.

No official date has been set, but the first game in the home-and-away, aggregate-goal series will be played between Tuesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 28. FC Dallas will play host to Alianza in the second leg of the series between Tuesday, Aug. 2 and Thursday, Aug. 4. FC Dallas gained entry to the illustrious tournament by advancing to MLS Cup 2010. This will be the first meeting between FC Dallas and Alianza FC.

Alianza is coming off a 9-5-5 regular season in the 2011 Clausura (El Salvador Primera Division). The team advanced to the league semifinal, where they drew LA Firpo, 2-2, on aggregate. Alianza advanced to the championship match because of their higher position in the regular season table. Alianza defeated CD Fas, 2-1, to claim the 2011 Clausura Championship for the first time in seven years and qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League 2011-12 tournament.

Tickets are $10 for current FC Dallas season ticket holders, with a special free ticket offer available to new or returning season ticket holders renewing their seats for the 2012 season. While 2011 Flex Vouchers are not valid for this game, FC Dallas package holders can buy general admission tickets for $12. General admission tickets for non-plan holders are $15. All tickets for the game go on sale Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m.
