FRISCO, Texas – Today FC Dallas bids a fond farewell to a foundational and long-serving member of its family. Marco Ferruzzi, who joined the club in 2004, is moving on to become the Sporting Director of USL Championship side San Antonio FC ahead of its 2024 season.

"I would like to thank all the coaches, players, and teams that I've been part of," Ferruzzi said. "I will remember with great fondness the titles won, historic moments, and hard work delivered. To the FCD family, I thank you for your constant support and care for this club. Finally, thank you to the Hunt family for providing the opportunity to live the sport I love."

A San Antonio native, Ferruzzi served FC Dallas in a variety of roles for nearly two decades. He spent 14 seasons as an assistant coach and recorded a 186-147-123 record under four different head coaches. The 53-year-old also managed the club as interim head coach on three separate occasions: 2008, 2013 and 2021.

Beginning in 2018, Ferruzzi transitioned into the front office as Director of Soccer Operations before assuming the post of Director of Methodology four years later. In his most recent role, Ferruzzi oversaw FC Dallas’ development pyramid by ensuring a cohesive style of play from its renowned youth academy to the professional ranks of North Texas SC and FC Dallas. Ferruzzi also spearheaded the club’s collegiate scouting efforts for over a decade in preparation for the annual MLS SuperDraft. His insight helped the club secure long-serving first team players including Matt Hedges (2012 SuperDraft), Ryan Hollingshead (2013), Ema Twumasi (2018) and many more.

“Marco Ferruzzi has been an important part of the FC Dallas family since 2004,” said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. “His contributions to the club have been amazing and were an integral part of our growth. We're sorry to lose him but we're excited for this next chapter in his life. We wish him and his family nothing but the best.”

Ferruzzi faithfully served FC Dallas from top to bottom for 19 years. His contributions will leave a lasting legacy both on and off the field.
