Defensive midfielder acquired on permanent transfer using TAM
Frisco, Texas – FC Dallas has acquired midfielder Thiago Santos from Palmeiras on a permanent transfer and signed the player using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). The Brazilian midfielder will be added to Dallas’ roster in January, 2020 pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). He will be under contract through the 2022 season with club options for 2023 and 2024. Per team policy, additional terms were not disclosed.
Santos, 30, joins FC Dallas after spending five seasons in the Brazilian first division, Campeonato Brasileiro, competing for Palmerias since 2015. He has also played for América-MG from 2014-2015.
“From championship experience to midfield leadership, Thiago brings so much to FC Dallas,” said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. “Thiago is someone who can make an immediate impact for us.”
Santos has six goals in 180 appearances for the Brazilian club and was a critical part of Palmeiras’ 2016 and 2018 Brazilian Championship titles.
