FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas has acquired midfielder Kyle Bekker from Toronto FC in exchange for allocation money and agreed to terms with midfielder Atiba Harris, the club announced today. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals will not be disclosed.
In two seasons with Toronto, Bekker appeared in 29 MLS matches with 16 starts. A native of Ontario, Bekker has 13 caps for the Canadian National Team since making his senior national team debut in a 4-0 loss to Denmark on Jan. 26, 2013.
Toronto FC drafted Bekker third overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft after the midfielder spent four years at Boston College, scoring 17 goals and adding 22 assists in 80 career games.
FC Dallas picked up the rights to Harris in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Dec. 17. A nine-year MLS veteran, Harris has enjoyed successful runs with Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA, FC Dallas, Vancouver, Colorado and San Jose. He has appeared in 191 career MLS matches, with 152 starts.
