Defender Zach Loyd selected by Atlanta United FC in the 2016 MLS Expansion Draft

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Dec. 13) – FC Dallas defender Zach Loyd was selected by Atlanta United FC with the third pick in today’s MLS Expansion Draft.


Loyd, 29, was the longest tenured player on FC Dallas’ roster. Drafted fifth overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Loyd appeared in 180 league matches (third in FC Dallas history behind Jason Kreis (247) and Bobby Rhine (212)) with four goals and eight assists. He started 12 of FCD’s first 16 league matches this season before suffering an injury against Oklahoma City Energy FC in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match on June 15.


FC Dallas posted a 6-3-3 record with a 1.08 goals against average in league matches that Loyd appeared in this season.
