DALLAS CUP: FC Dallas U-18s Advance to Super Group Semifinal, All Academy Teams Set to Advance

FRISCO - For the second straight year, the FC Dallas U-18s are headed to the Dallas Cup Gordon Jago Super Group Semifinal at Toyota Stadium.

This year's team needed a 1-0 win over Maccabi Haifa FC off the head of captain Brandon Terwege in their group stage finale to secure a spot in the Final Four. The 18s finished tied with C.F. Monterrey atop the group with 7 points, but owned a three-goal lead in the goal differential tiebreaker, courtesy of Sunday's 5-0 win over Everton.

FC Dallas will face Brazilian-side Coritiba FC on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Toyota Stadium, looking to advance to the tournament Final for the first time in club history and the 18s will look to become the first MLS Academy team to ever win the Gordon Jago Super Group title. DALLAS CUP: FC Dallas U-18s Advance to Super Group Semifinal, All Academy Teams Set to Advance -

Every Academy Team Set to Advance

Aside from the U-18s, the U-15s, U-14s and U-13s all won their respective groups and will play Quarterfinal matches on Friday morning. The U-12 Academy did not win their group, but sit in second place with a +5 goal differential and are likely to earn one of the two Wildcard spots into the Quarterfinal round.

All-told, FCD Academy teams amassed a 12-1-2 record in Dallas Cup group stage play, outscoring their opponents 55-5 in 15 games.

All FC Dallas Academy teams are playing up an age group in their respective divisions (i.e. U-15s are playing U-16 bracket, U-14s in U-15 bracket, etc.).

All in the Family

Two FCDY teams squared off against FCD Affiliate teams on Wednesday. In the U-15 bracket, the 02B Premier team and the FCD El Paso 02 team played to a 1-1 draw in their group stage finales. In the U-13 bracket, the FCD Mexico 04 team took a 3-0 win over the 04B team in each's second Bracket B match.

Around the Tournament

We're nearing the end of Dallas Cup group play, with five FCDY and two FCD Affiliate teams left to play their final match on Thursday. Only two non-Academy teams are in a position to potentially qualify for the Quarterfinal round. The 98B West team is tied for first in the U-19 Bracket A with one game to play and could qualify with a win and a loss from Liverpool FC Foundation U-19s. The FCD Mexico 04 team is in second place in the U-13 Bracket B, but could take the top spot with a win and a FC Golden State 2004 East loss. The 04B South Red team could still qualify as one of the two Wildcard spots in the U-13 bracket, but with a goal differential of -1 through their three games, they would need multi-goal losses from at least one of the other second place teams in other groups.
