Breaking Down FC Dallas' 500 Goals at Toyota Stadium

6.13 Toyota Stadium Goals DL

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas has reached a momentous milestone: 500 MLS regular season goals at its home ground, Toyota Stadium.

Here's a breakdown of all 500 goals and some fun facts to go along with it.

First Goal

FC Dallas' first goal at Toyota Stadium came during its first game at the new venue (known as Pizza Hut Park back then) on Aug. 6, 2005. It was league's third soccer-specific stadium ever built after Columbus Crew Stadium (1999) and LA Galaxy's Home Depot Center (2003).

Guatemalan forward Carlos Ruiz scored the club's first goal at Toyota Stadium in the 30th minute against the NY/NJ MetroStars (now the RedBulls). In classic Ruiz fashion, one goal wasn't enough and he scored the second just four minutes later with a clever back-heel flick. The game eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.

Top Scorers

Next, we'll look at Toyota Stadium's most prolific goal scorers. There have been 82 different FCD players who've scored league goals at the venue, 16 of whom reached double digits. Fun fact, Toyota Stadium's 15th-top FCD scorer is Own Goal (goals scored for Dallas by the other team).

Goals Against Clubs

Goals aren't just scored. They're scored against someone. Let's breakdown the teams that Dallas has scored against most often. As you'd expect, the team at the top of the list have played the most games at Toyota Stadium...so basically the older Western Conference teams.

There are two teams FCD has only faced once at home but Dallas scored against each of them: FC Cincinnati (3) and St. Louis City (2).

Centurions

Tonight, Paul Arriola became the fifth centurion of Toyota Stadium; that is, the fifth player to score a 100th goal at ground. The others:

  • Jeff Cunningham scored FCD's 100th goal at Toyota Stadium on Aug. 1, 2009 in a 6-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards
  • Mauro Díaz scored FCD's 200th goal here on Sept. 7, 2013. True to form, it was an 87th game-winner in a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
  • Maxi Urruti scored the 300th goal three years later on Aug. 13, 2016 in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City.
  • Ryan Hollingshead scored the 400th on Aug. 31, 2019 with the opening goal in a 3-1 win over FC Cincinnati; one of the three teams Dallas has played just once at Toyota Stadium.
