Antonio Carrera Called into U.S. U-20 Men’s Youth National Team January Camp

FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 19, 2023) – FC Dallas Homegrown goalkeeper Antonio Carrera has been called into the U.S. U-20 Men’s Youth National Team January Camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from Jan. 19-29. Carrera is part of the 23-player group that will train in Florida to continue preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, set for May 20-June 11 in Indonesia. 
 
Carrera, 18, kicks off his second season with FC Dallas after signing as the 33rd Homegrown in club history on Feb. 21, 2022. He made his professional debut on March 26, 2022 with North Texas SC during the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season. Carrera was the starting goalkeeper in 16 matches for North Texas SC in 2022, allowing 18 goals, making 53 saves and recording a 74.7 saves percentage.
 
While U-20 MYNT head coach Mikey Varas serves as an assistant at the senior USMNT’s January training camp, U-17 MYNT head coach Gonzalo Segares will lead the camp. Segares has served as an assistant with the U-20s throughout their cycle.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2003 are age-eligible for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. This training camp features 11 players born in 2003, nine born in 2004 and three born in 2005.
