Adjustments

Hayes has played in 13 of the team's 14 games this year. He started the first seven games, but returned to the bench shortly after Kellyn Acosta came back from injury. He has adjusted well as a substitute and proven his ability to play in either role.

Pedigree

Hayes was a first-team All-American in his senior year at Wake Forest. That ended a storied career where he was an All-Freshman ACC player and made the ACC First-Team twice. The midfielder recorded 15 goals and 15 assists in his career there.

Intelligence

He won the Senior CLASS Award in 2016, an award given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men’s soccer. He was on the ACC All-Academic Team three times, a CoSIDA Academic All-District honor and was the NCSAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year during his career.
