FRISCO – FC Dallas center back Matt Hedges has a chance to make his second consecutive MLS All-Star game. He played 45 minutes against Real Madrid last year and can be a part of the MLS All-Star team who will face Juventus on August 1 in Atlanta.
Here are five reasons to vote for the FC Dallas veteran.

Individual Awards
Hedges has been recognized twice in the MLS’ Starting XI, in 2015 and 2016. He was also named the MLS Defender of the Year in 2016.
Iron-Man
Hedges is the only field player for FC Dallas to play every single minute this season. He has been top five in minutes played for field players for Dallas in every year since his arrival in 2012. Going into this season, he was only 5,251 minutes behind Jason Kreis for the team’s all-time record in minutes played.
Leadership
Hedges controls the back and directs the players in front of him. He has been the team’s captain since 2014.

Goals Against
Hedges is the heartbeat of a defense that has only allowed 14 goals in 14 games. Their 1.0 goals against per game is the third best in the MLS.
Set Pieces
At 6’4 Hedges has the ability to win balls in the air on both sides of the field. He is always a threat offensively on corner kicks and free kicks.
