ACADEMY: U-14's earn showcase win over LA Galaxy

The FC Dallas Academy U-14's opened their Showcase week and extended their season unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy U-14's on Monday night.

Dallas managed to maintain possession and control of the game for much of the first half. The first goal of the game came early when Johan Gomez managed to fire one past the LA goalkeeper to give Dallas a 1-0 edge in the 10th minute.

Gomez also got two more chances, one in the 18th minute that went just left of the goal, and another in the 25th that went straight to the goalkeeper.

The Galaxy leveled the match in the 38th minute with a shot from Efrain Alvarez that went over Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi and into the back of the net, tying the score at 1-1 heading into the half. Alvarez was then issued a yellow card for celebrating his goal behind the sponsor boards.

Coming back after halftime, Collodi managed to save several shots from LA to keep them from earning the go-ahead goal. The second half remained goalless untilMalik Henry-Scott got the game winning goal for Dallas in the 75th minute when he headed the ball into the net on a corner kick.

With the win, the U-14's improve their record to 23-0-2 and they look to extend that undefeated record at their next showcase on Wednesday, June 22, at 9 a.m against another national powerhouse in the New York Red Bulls.
