ACADEMY: U-14 Squad Facing World-Class Talent at Wanda Cup in Spain

The U-14 Academy FC Dallas squad is in Spain this weekend participating in the Wanda Cup with some of the best clubs in the world.


There are 12 teams in the tournament, hailing from eight different countries. FC Dallas is the lone representative from the United States.

The 12 teams are split into two groups of six, and FCD will play six or seven 40-minute games between Friday and Sunday.


They played Portugal-side FC Porto and Turkish-club Altinordu on Friday. They lost to FC Porto 2-0 in the first match, then followed that up with a 1-0 win vs. Altinordu.


On Saturday, the team will play three matches against some of the biggest-named clubs in soccer.


They will open up in the morning going up against Atlético de Madrid and then have less than a two hour-window before playing Juventus FC. The last game of the day will be against Liverpool FC.

Depending on the team’s record, they will either play one of two games on Sunday. The top two teams in each group will play in a semi-finals and finals/third place game, meanwhile the other eight teams will only play one game on the final day.
