ACADEMY: FC Dallas U-12s Heading to Prospects Cup in Florida

FRISCO- FC Dallas U-12s will be participating in the inaugural Prospects Cup tournament on December 18-22 in Kissimmee, Florida featuring 16 of the world’s best domestic and international under-12 boys soccer teams.


“This is a great opportunity for our kids to showcase their talent against some of the best kids from around the world,” said U-12s Head Coach John Gall. “Expectations are very high, it’s incredible the amount of dedication the kids have they always give 100 percent. They are very proud  of wearing the FC Dallas badge. We never have any excuses or complaints.” 


The 16 national and international teams of boys under age 12 will take the pitch at the world-class Champions Gate Sports Field Complex. The U.S. teams are: FC Dallas(Frisco, TX), Global Premier Soccer (Boston, MA), LA Galaxy (Los Angeles, CA), Orlando City SC (Orlando, FL), Real Jersey FC (Medford, NJ), Sockers FC (Chicago, IL), Tuzos Soccer Club (Phoenix, AZ) and Weston Soccer Club (Miami, FL). The international teams are: AS Roma (Italy), Boca Juniors (Argentina), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Chivas (Mexico), Club América (Mexico), Fluminense FC (Brazil), Manchester City (England) and Real Madrid (Spain).


Games will be played in three elimination rounds. The group winners of each division (based upon cumulative points) will advance to the semifinal games. The division runners-up will play in the Consolation Final and the division winners will compete for the World Championship.

FC Dallas U-12s first match will be against Pachuca’s U-12s, a rival that has history in the making from the FC Dallas Academy all the way to the First team. FC Dallas faced-off Pachuca for the CCL Final in 2016 mean while FC Dallas U-17’s played against Pachuca’s U-17s in the Liga MX International Final this year. Matches that were won by Pachuca, now the face off continues, but with the competition being a lot younger. 


“The fact that we get to play them under 12’s starts the rivalry very early which is an important factor of the development of our players,” said Gall. “We are certainly excited to starting the tournament and the chance to compete at the highest level.”

Dec 21: FC Dallas 0, Weston FC 1


FC Dallas U-12s looking for the Domestic Championship falls short as Weston FC took the lead early in the match. FC Dallas goalkeeper, Julian Eyestone deflected the first shot from Weston FC but was not able to stop the second shot from inside the box. Keyrol Figueroa had multiple shots but was not able to find the back of the net. FC Dallas U-12s will now play the Consolidation Final tomorrow at 8:00AM.  



Dec. 20: FC Dallas 1, Real Jersey FC 0


Day three in full effect took place as FC Dallas U-12s looked for a victory against Real Jersey FC. A match that FC Dallas wanted to win in order to advance in the Prospects Cup. It was in the 13th minute when FC Dallas U-12s were able to score. From captain to captain FC Dallas defender, Gabriel Brandon throws a corner kick finding Owen Gall who with a touch, put FC Dallas 1-0. FC Dallas will now face Weston FC In the Prospects Cup Domestic Championship.  





Dec. 19: FC DALLAS 2, SOCKERS FC 0


Day two of the Prospects Cup took place as the FC Dallas U-12s faced Sockers FC. Even though the score was 0-0 during the first 25 minute half, FC Dallas seemed to be dominating the game. One minute into the second half Alejandro Urzua made a pass to Keyrol Figueroa, a pass which he converted into a goal making the score 1-0. Just seven minutes later Gustavo Quiroz scored the definitive 2-0 giving FC Dallas a second victory in the Prospects Cup. FC Dallas will now face Real Jersey FC at 2:45 PM and you can catch all the action on our FBLive.





Dec.18: FC DALLAS 1, PACHUCA 0


FC Dallas U-12s played their first match of the inaugural Prospects Cup against Pachucas U-12s and found a victory. Regardless of the crowd having more Pachuca fans as you could hear them cheer on Los Tuzos through the live broadcast, FC Dallas was able to keep their concentration. It was 39 minutes after the initial whistle when Keyrol Figueroa created an opportunity by passing three defenders and scoring with his right leg breaking the 0-0 tie and giving FC Dallas a victory. FC Dallas will now face Sockers FC at 12:30PM tomorrow.
