FC Dallas Academy U19 Eliminated from MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas Academy fell to New England Revolution Academy 3-0 in the semifinal of the U19 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs on Friday morning.

“The semifinals are tough games,” head coach Chuy Vera said. “I am happy for the boys because they kept their style of play and did not give up. I felt like we dominated the game, but we had one mistake that they took advantage of and capitalized. Overall, I am proud of the performance and run from the team in the playoffs." 

Dallas started theirplayoff run in the Round of 32 with a 1-1 draw against Solar SC but advanced through penalty kicks. In theRound of 16, midfielder Diego Hernandez’ scored the game winning goal against Sockers FC in a 1-0 Dallas victory. Dallas replicated the score line during the quarterfinals against Frontier Division foe Real Colorado thanks to a game winner from Dylan Lacy.

For multiple FC Dallas Academy players, this marked their last match at the Academy level. 

“I am going to finish out here and get ready to head to Furman University,” midfielder Diego Hernandez said. “My favorite memory were those days that the FC Dallas vans would pick us up from school and we would get dressed as we were heading to practice. I have more memories with the boys but that is my favorite one.”

The FC Dallas Academy U19 finished its MLS NEXT regular season undefeated with a 6-0-3 record and 21 points at the top of the Frontier Division.
