LAST TIME OUT

HALF WAY IN
North Texas SC holds a 8-2-2 record heading into the second half with 23 goals scored and 12 goals against. Forward Bernard Kamungo leads the team with seven goals scored, while midfielder Hope Avayevu leads the team with five assists. Kamungo also leads the team with 1,062 minutes played in 12 matches. The team has earned 27 out of 36 possible points during the first half of the season, while also winning an extra point in a shootout against Tacoma Defiance on April 2.

Pa-Modou Kah: “This first half of the season is for the players to understand our playing style, who we are as a group and what we can become as well. The first couple of games we were trying to figure each other out, but now you can see how collective as a group we are on and off the field. I value how the boys are with each other off the field, seeing them gel off the field is great. For the second half of the season we will hold ourselves to a higher standard, we will progress as a group and have a more killer mindset.”

LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK_
*_North Texas SC suffered its first loss on the road this season to Whitecaps FC 2 3-1 last Friday. That is the second defeat the team has endured this season and it snapped the team’s four-game winning streak. After suffering its first defeat of the season, NTSC went on a 5-0-1 run before its second defeat of the season.

Pa-Modou Kah: “We play every game to win, whether if it’s a home or an away game. We are who we are, and always aim to get better. We know nothing is rewarded for having good stats only. For us it’s growth and being consistent with our performances. We will continue to grow as a team. It’s tough to win on the road, so we try to help our players develop that mindset that it is possible to win.”

THE OPPONENTS
MNUFC2 are currently sixth in the Western Conference with 21 points and a 5-3-3 record. The team has scored 23 goals and have conceded 14 goals. Forward Aziel Jackson leads the team with five goals scored in 10 matches played. He also is tied for the team lead in assists with midfielder Diogo Pacheco at three assists each. Goalkeeper Fred Emmings has registered 27 saves with a 69.2 saves percentage in eight matches.

André Costa: “The team will not approach any team differently. We have a playing style and we will stick to it. We are an intense team defensively and we like to press and react after losing the ball. We aim to move the ball around and keep it once we have the ball. Minnesota will have strong parts to their game, but we will always stick to our game plan.”
