STORY LINES

New Leadership

North Texas SC fell 2-1 at home to Sporting KC II in interim head coach John Gall’s first game in charge. Though the game resulted in a loss, the team displayed positive attacking movements and showed the ability to create chances. This was shown through the opening goal from forward José Mulato who scored off an assist from Tyshawn Rose in the 11th minute to open the scoring. North Texas had control of the game for the majority of the first half, until two mistakes led to goals in the 41st and 45th minute respectively. With the team fighting for a playoff spot, Gall looks to continue helping the team compete for a spot. The team looks to bounce back from the last match with an upcoming match at home against Timbers2.

Player to Watch

Last match forward José Mulato recorded his team-high seventh goal contribution in an eventual 2-1 defeat to Sporting KC II. The goal in the last game brings his tally up to four goals and three assists on the season, with only 12 games played. Mulato has been very productive this season for North Texas, averaging .41 goals per 90 minutes. All four of the Colombian forward’s goals have come through the run of play and were scored inside the 18-yard box. This season Mulato has been splitting his time between North Texas and FC Dallas, having made 18 appearances so far for the senior team. The 20-year-old looks to continue his scoring output in the upcoming match against Timbers2.
