Looking to Bounce Back

After going down to 10 men, North Texas SC fell to Colorado Rapids 2 by a score of 4-2. The team is now back home, looking to get back on the front foot against fellow Western Conference opponent St. Louis CITY2. Although last game ended with a difficult result, the club still boasts two strong statistics and ranks first and third in accurate long balls and total key passes league wide. North Texas looks to continue its good home form in the series against CITY2 at home, having beat them 3-1 last season at Choctaw Stadium. 

Player to Watch

Last match forward Hope Avayevu put on an offensive display to remember, scoring the opening two goals in an eventual 4-2 defeat to Rapids 2. The brace in the last game brings his tally up to three goals on the season, a team high. Avayevu not only leads the team in goals but also shots, shots on target and is averaging just under one goal per game at .89 per 90 minutes. The Ghanaian looks to continue his run as a goal scoring threat next match against St. Louis CITY2.

St. Louis CITY2 is coming into the match on the back of its first win of the season, a 2-1 home win against Whitecaps FC 2. Led by head coach Bobby Murphy, the team currently sits in 11th position in the Western Conference with six points through six matches. Last game’s win represents the first of the season for the club after suffering a three-game losing streaked sandwiched by two draws. CITY2 has been stout defensively this season keeping every game within two goals, including two shutouts. The team has been led by 21-year-old goalkeeper Christian Olivares who’s started four games for the club. Among goalkeepers in the league, Olivares ranks in the top 10 in both total clearances and saves made.

There are two options for parking at Choctaw Stadium: parking lots E and L. Fans are encouraged to purchase a prepaid parking ticket as day of game parking prices vary on events happening within the district. Tickets can be purchased through the AXS app or in person at Choctaw Stadium. Fans can also purchase tickets online. Fans may purchase either general admission tickets for $20 or field level seats for $40.
