STORY LINES

Goals Galore

North Texas SC enters the match on the back of a 3-3 draw with Houston Dynamo 2, losing the extra point shootout 6-5. The three goals scored represent the second time in the last three games that the club has scored at least three goals. The team scored four goals in a 4-1 win over St. Louis CITY2. The rampant goalscoring form can be attributed to the positive goal distribution throughout the team. So far this season, North Texas has seen seven different players score for the club. The strong goal distribution shows the versatility of the team, not needing to rely solely on the attacking players to get the job done. The club looks to continue its hearty goal scoring form in the upcoming match.

Player to Watch

Last match, midfielder Diego Hernandez scored what looked to be the game-winning goal in an eventual 3-3 draw with Houston Dynamo 2. Hernandez wasted no time making an impact, coming into the game during the 73rd minute and scoring just nine minutes later in the 82nd minute. The goal represents the now 18-year-old’s first as a professional, having debuted at age 15 which made him the youngest player in North Texas SC history. Hernandez has played in six games this season, starting in two and playing a total of 180 minutes. Though appearing mostly as a substitute, the timeliness of the goal speaks to the young midfielder’s strong mentality and suggests that he can continue to make an impact the rest of the season.
