Three FC Dallas Academy Players Called into National Team Duty

FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 16, 2022) – FC Dallas Academy players Michael Cortellessa and Bryce Outman

were called up to the U.S. U-16 Men’s Youth National Team by new head coach Michael Nsien to kick off his tenure at the Football Federations Cup U-16 in Ablir, Spain from Nov. 16-28. FC Dallas Academy forward Emanuel Martínez has also been called up to Honduras U-20 Men’s National Team by head coach Luis Alvarado for some international friendly matches in Los Angeles from Nov. 14-22.

Cortellessa, 15, played 12 MLS NEXT matches this season for the FC Dallas U-16 Academy Team. This is his third USYNT call up in 2022.

Outman, 15, earns his second call up to the USYNT. He played 12 MLS NEXT matches for the FCD U16s. Both Outman and Cortellessa participated in the 2022 Generations adidas Cup at Toyota Soccer Center.

Martínez, 18, appeared in six matches for the FCD U19s. He earns his first call up to the Honduran Youth National Team.

The USA will face Spain in the opening match on Wednesday, Nov. 23. From there, the U-16 MYNT will play two placement games against a tournament field that also features Belgium, England, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Wales. The tournament matches will not be live streamed but will be posted on the tournament organizer’s YouTube channel postgame.

Honduras will play four international friendlies to prepare for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia. The U-20s will face San Francisco Elite Academy (Nov. 16), CD Guadalajara Chivas U-20s (Nov. 17 and 19) and LAFC’s U-19 Academy team (Nov. 20).
