Zimmerman Rumors

FRISCO - With the summer transfer window opening in just a few short weeks, rumors have spun up once again about an FC Dallas player possibly on the move.

Reports have surfaced about Walker Zimmerman peaking the interest of Bundesliga-side Hoffenheim, who recently finished a fourth place season in Germany’s top league. FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo would not confirm or deny the inquiry, but says, however, that teams from abroad inquiring about players is common place.

“With the caliber of players we have at FC Dallas, it would be a shock if other teams weren’t interested in players on our roster,” Clavijo said in a statement released by the club. “We are committed to developing the best club in MLS with the focus, as always, on succeeding both on and off the pitch.”

Zimmerman is nearing the end of rehabbing from an MCL sprain suffered in late May and returned to full practice for the team this week. After signing a new contract prior to the 2016 campaign, the defender has enjoyed a breakout 18 months, starting a career-best 30 games last season and earning his first U.S. Men’s National Team call-up earlier this year.
