The last match north of the border ended in a 3-3 draw vs. Toronto FC II on June 12, 2019, during regular season play of USL League One. Ronaldo Damus scored a hat trick in that match. North Texas SC has a 0-1-1 record with five goals scored and six goals against in two matches played in Canada. The club holds an overall record of 2-2-2 with 10 goals scored and nine goals against when playing Canadian teams. 

In the first match up between North Texas SC and Whitecaps FC 2 was on May 14, at Choctaw Stadium. The game was decided by a 35th minute game winning goal from Colombian striker José Mulato. The match ended 1-0 and North Texas SC claimed three points in the first ever meeting between both clubs.

Pa-Modou Kah: “To have center backs who are good on and off the ball is great. Being able to play with the ball comfortably in the back, are the type of players that we like to have. There has been different center back pairings throughout the season, but I am glad to have multiple center backs who can play long balls from the back. We are happy with the way our players have responded when being called upon to step in that role.”

North Texas SC has a 4-0-1 record when playing on the road this season. The team has scored 10 goals and conceded two goals when playing away from home, including three shutouts. Forward Bernard Kamungo has scored in all five games road matches this season.

Pa-Modou Kah: “We play every game to win, whether if it’s a home or an away game. We are who we are, and always aim to get better. We know nothing is rewarded for having good stats only. For us it’s growth and being consistent with our performances. We will continue to grow as a team. It’s tough to win on the road, so we try to help our players develop that mindset that it is possible to win.”

Whitecaps FC 2 are currently 5th in the Western Conference with a 5-2-5 record and 22 points in the season. Whitecaps FC 2 have found the back of the net 22 times this season. Midfielder Owen Antoniuk and forward Emiliano Brienza lead the team with three goals each. Midfielder Vasco Fry leads the team with 598 passes completed and registering a 77% accuracy. Goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer leads the team with 23 saves in seven appearances.

Paul Amedume: “I expect them to come out on the front foot and dominate the ball early. They are going to try and take advantage of the fact that they will be playing at home. We are just trying to focus on ourselves and play the way we know how to. It will be a close game, but if we play the way we know how to then we give ourselves the best chance to get some points on the road.”
