TEXAS DERBY SHOWDOWN
Sunday’s match will be the third edition of the MLS NEXT Pro Texas Derby. North Texas SC fell 3-2 in the first meeting at Toyota Stadium on April 23. André Costa and José Mulato were the two goal scorers for North Texas. In the second match up, North Texas SC rallied back to earn a point with a 3-3 score line thanks to a brace from Mulato and a goal form Tomás Lacerda at Choctaw Stadium on July 15. The Colombian striker has enjoyed playing against in-state rivals Houston as he has registered three goals and an assist in two matches.

RECORD BREAKER
Bernard Kamungo is North Texas SC’s newest all-time top goal scorer with 22 goals after netting a brace versus St Louis CITY2 on Sept. 11 at Choctaw Stadium. The Tanzanian-American forward’s goal tally for the season is up to 16 now, tying Ronaldo Damus’ single season record set in 2019. Kamungo could break the single season record and score his first goal against Houston Dynamo 2 this Sunday.

Since North Texas SC started play in 2019, the club holds an all-time record of 19-18-11 when playing on the road with 67 goals scored and 66 conceded. This season, North Texas holds a 5-3-3 record on the road as they head into Decision Day 2022. This will be North Texas SC’s first visit to Houston in MLS NEXT Pro play.
