North Texas SC Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah

General thoughts on the match…

“I think we started with a few chances early in the game but we were out of it today. Sometimes those things happen but if you look at the growth mindset and you see where the growth of the game is. Getting our first clean sheet was very important, it helps build confidence and the defending was well. We defended well, it was a little sluggish in the beginning and we made adjustments for the second half. We were more sharp with our chances in the second half than we were in the first half. We did not possess the ball today. The way that we dug in and when you have special players like Bernard [Kamungo] it only takes half a chance and when you get it you finish it.”

On Academy product Nolan Norris start…

“There are situations where players come up and down through either the first team or the academy. It is a fantastic opportunity for these players and it is very important to be in this league. We’ve had Nolan [Norris] training with us since the beginning of the season. In the situation where Isaiah [Parker] isn’t available that’s where Nolan steps up. He did very well today and did what we asked him to do. He played in the GA cup throughout the week and still came here and made his professional debut on the road, that shows the mentality the kid has.”

Forward Bernard Kamungo

General thoughts on the match…

“Honestly away games I do not expect an easy game, let alone an easy win. We know it is going to be a tough game and whatever the game throws at us we have to go on with it. The game was tough like I expected and we had to work into it. We were able to come away with the win.”

General thoughts on the match…

“For me it was all about communication. We are all young players and we are still growing up. Playing together is something Pa teaches us a lot. We need to communicate more, because when the coaches tell us to do something we need to do it and not do our thing. They told us what to do and in the first half we kind of did our own thing and did not listen to them. In the second half we corrected our mistakes and were able play much better.”
