LOS ANGELES, California (Oct. 5, 2025) – The reigning MLS NEXT Pro champions, North Texas SC (11-11-6, 43 points) defeats LAFC2 (9-15-5, 33 Points) 4-2 at USC Rawlinson Stadium on Sunday Afternoon. Captain Sam Sarver scored a hat trick in 14 minutes to help North Texas clinch a spot in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
SAM SARVER CEMENTS HIS LEGACY
FC Dallas forward Sam Sarver scored his 17th, 18th, and 19th goal of the season, etching his name into the club’s record books for most goals in a single season. Sarver finished the season second in the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot race with 19 goals scored in 25 games this season. His hat trick is the second this season by North Texas SC. This season, Sarver set the club record for most goals in a match with four, scored North Texas’ first hat trick since 2019, and became the first player in club history to earn MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month honors in July 2025.
DIEGO GARCIA CLIMBS THE RANKS
FC Dallas Homegrown midfielder Diego Garcia scored his second goal of the season in the 69th minute of the match to start the comeback. Garcia made his 66th appearance for North Texas SC in regular season play, tying former North Texas SC and FC Dallas defender Collin Smith. The Denver, Colorado native, has scored 12 goals and six assists with the club.
IRON SWANNMidfielder Caleb Swann made his 28th appearance for the club, becoming the sixth player in club history to appear in every match in a season. Swann has two goals and one assist since signing with the club in Dec. 2024.

North Texas SC improves its Decision Day record to 5-2-0 with today’s 4-2 win.
RETURNING TO THE POSTSEASON
North Texas SC clinches the sixth seed in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. This marks the second consecutive year that the club reached the postseason. Last year, North Texas won the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Cup, defeating the Philadelphia Union II 3-2 on Nov. 9, 2024, at Toyota Stadium. This is the third time North Texas has made the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs.
