North Texas SC Comeback to Earn a 3-1 Win Over Colorado Rapids 2

Denver, CO (June 4, 2022) - North Texas SC (7-1-2, 24 points) came from behind to earn a 3-1 win over Colorado Rapids 2 (1-7-1, 5 points) at University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Saturday night. 

Game Summary

First Half:

  • 5’ – GOAL (COL) – Darren Yapi scored the opening goal of the match after slotting a one-on-one opportunity with Antonio Carrera.
  • 7’ – GOAL (NTX) – Hope Avayevu curled his shot from a tight angle over Abraham Rodriguez to level the match up 1-1, following a set up from Isaiah Parker.
  • 36’ – GOAL (NTX) – Bernard Kamungo calmly slotted his penalty kick to the right of Rodriguez’ goal to give North Texas SC the 2-1 lead. 

Second Half:

  • 50’ – GOAL (NTX) – Kamungo’s cross fell into the path of Collin Smith inside the box who slammed his shot past the keeper to extend North Texas’ lead to 3-1.
  • 83’ – SHOT (NTX) – Kamungo nearly scored his second goal of the night but the keeper was able to save it, following the set up from Santiago Ferreira.
  • 90’+4’ – PK SAVE (NTX) – Yapi’s penalty kick was heading towards the bottom right corner but Carrera was able to push it out to keep the scoreline 3-1.
